2013 DULCIMERVILLE SCHEDULE

We like to give you lots of options during the week rather than limit your choices. We want our participants to take as much in as they can, but please remember to “pace” yourself with rest and practice times to get the most out of your week.

Monday Schedule:

35 pm

Checkin, Lobby of Blue Ridge Center. Pick up your Welcome Packet, get settled in your room, greet friends and meet new ones.

6-6:45

Supper in the Blue Ridge Center Dining Hall. (Please wear your nametag.)

7:15-9:15

Brief announcements, followed by welcome festivities and performances.

9:15-10:15    

Choose from several (optional) jam sessions and evening events (you'll get a schedule of them when you arrive).

10:15-12

Feel free to continue jamming informally or start new jams in jamming areas.

 

Typical Day:

Time to visit the Dulcimer Marketplace next door in Washburn Center, or personal time for resting, taking a walk in our beautiful scenery, practicing what you learned in the morning, jamming with friends, swimming in the pool, or tennis.

“Dulcimer Orchestra” (optional) in Chapel, visit Dulcimer Marketplace, or take a swim in the pool, rest, take a walk, play tennis, etc.

Evening activities begin – concerts (open to public) Tues. & Thurs., Fri. students’ open stage.

When lunch ends at 1:15, it will be our time for Field Trips and Supper-on-the town as described in the “Special Features” section of this website. 

 

Thursday’s Elective classes & mini-course sessions will be from 7:30-9:30 pm, with optional jamming after that. This enables us to have a full schedule of classes and still have a mid-week afternoon break to enjoy our beautiful mountain environment and replenish your energy outside the classroom environment.

 

Friday

Will follow the Typical Day schedule above, and will feature a Students’ Open Mike & Orchestra performance in the evening, followed by jam sessions.

 

Saturday

After breakfast in the Blue Ridge Center, we will have our Farewell Session from 9-10. After a coffee break, your morning course will continue until 1 pm, and the event concludes after that. **Room check-out time is 10:00 a.m.
