Housing: Staying on-site at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly is entirely different from the university campus settings we have had before for dulcimer weeks. Instead of the austerity of dorms, we will have comfortable, furnished hotel-style rooms. Instead of traveling across a campus for each meal, the dining hall is in one of our two adjacent buildings – Blue Ridge Center and Asheville Hall next door to it. Some of the rooms are very large and are intended for up to 3 participants to share for the most economical rate. Double and single rooms are also available. In both buildings, rooms have their own private bath. We are saving a block of rooms in the Blue Ridge Center for participant students sharing rooms together and for designated Handicapped participant students. They are the people who most need to have their classrooms, lodging and meals “all under one roof,” although Asheville Hall is just across the small road. If we have more housing needs, we can use the beautiful Family Lodge 2 (a one minute drive up the hill). This is also air conditioned, and bathrooms are shared by two rooms. Parking is next to all the buildings.

Outside are 1,200 acres of beautiful mountain scenery, and we have access to a heated outdoor pool, lighted tennis courts, exercise room, walking trails, and a lake.

Remember: You must finalize your event registration (register for classes and pay your tuition) at http://Dulcimerville.com before you can reserve your room.

Meals: The rooms are rented in a package with 13 meals served in the Blue Ridge Center Dining Hall. This is very
different from a university cafeteria. The food is buffet-style, but that’s where the similarity ends. The food is higher quality
and well prepared and presented. The overall population of the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly is much smaller than a
university, so there should be no long lines. The atmosphere is more serene for dining, with no noisy machines running. If
you are a vegetarian you can request vegetarian options for your meals. You just need to contact Conference Planning
Director, Christine Penland This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it at least 2 weeks before June 7. They can accommodate some other
dietary needs as well; please ask.

This conference/retreat center was designed so families could use it, so the rooms were not intended to be strictly for one
person, but that is possible. There is a basic price for a room, and up to 3 people may occupy it, which brings the cost
down dramatically. If you do not have a friend you plan to stay with, both Lois, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , and the Blue Ridge
Center Guest Services will do their best to find a compatible roommate. The Blue Ridge Assembly is a nonsmoking
facility.

Reserving your Housing/Meals Package: After you have registered in our event on this website, you will be able to reserve your meals/housing by visiting the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly website, http://www.blueridgeassembly.org. Click on the "Events/Registration" icon on the left side, where you will be able to select "DULCIMERVILLE." If you need help you can contact Guest Services Director Debi Smith at 828-669-8422.

There are, of course, off-site places at which you can stay or eat for the week. However, when you calculate how much hotels, B&Bs and restaurants cost in the popular vacation destination of Black Mountain, NC, it becomes clear that staying and eating on-site with us gives you more value for your dollar, as well as convenience and community.

Children ages 3-11 staying with parents are offered a 50% discount on the 13 meals.

Commuter Rate: Out-of-town participants staying off-campus pay a $76 commuter rate. This includes 4 lunches (Tues., Wed., Thurs. & Fri.), plus the YMCA's facility fee that is covered in resident participants' housing/meals packages. If you live locally and plan to commute and eat meals at your home, your Commuter Rate is $32.
