A Happy Note on the Tuition Pricing and Value of DULCIMERVILLE:

Dulcimer weeks’ tuitions vary in “price” from as low as $100 to as much as almost $600. Guitar, fiddle, and other music weeks are usually on the upper end or beyond this range. Dulcimerville’s tuition is certainly low, but we are well aware that “price” and “value” are not synonymous. We have well over 200 hours of classes from which to choose, offering the largest curriculum in mountain dulcimer events. Our amazing, experienced staff and our 24 years of organizing the best in dulcimer events can give you the security that you have chosen the most reliable “value” in a mountain dulcimer week. The beauty, comfort, and convenience of the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly make our classes and activities a relaxed value as well. For more details, check out the CLASSES & MORE section of this website and keep up-to-date on new developments in our new “Dulcimerville News” column we are putting on the home page.

STUDENT TUITION (full participation in all classes and activities) – pay for when you preregister: $325

NON-PARTICIPANT FEE (companion not taking classes, staying at Blue Ridge Assembly with a tuition-paying Student) – pay when you pre-register: $80

Non-Participant fee covers registration & processing costs and eligibility to purchase on-site housing with participant. Also includes admission to Monday evening Welcome Meeting, all concerts, open mike, and jam sessions. Non-Participant fee does not include admission to any classes for which students pay regular tuition. Meals and housing costs are listed on the Housing/Meals page of this website. To help Non-Participants plan their time while companions are in class: we will send an Area Attractions list. Non-Participant Companions of Dulcimerville students staying OFF campus are not eligible for any classes or activities that others pay for. They are most welcome to purchase concert tickets on site, and can contact the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly about purchasing meal packages.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations, by written request, received prior to May 24, 2010 will receive a full refund minus a $50 processing fee. After that date no refunds will be made.

CHILDREN: Parents of all young people below 18 will sign a release regarding their safety, supervision and conduct.
Children Participants
age 12 and over are welcome to register for classes, paying the tuitions listed above. They will be expected to be ready and dedicated to learning what the classes teach, and respectful of instructors’ and adult registrants’ goals and learning in class.
Children Non-Participants ages 3 and over will be under the care of a parent or designated guardian at all times who can make sure they are safe, entertained and respectful of the event and its participants. Regular Non-Participant fees apply. Meal discount for children 3-11 applies (see Housing/Meals).

OTHER COSTS:

MATERIALS FEES: Your instructors will be teaching many techniques and pieces of music. There will be minimal fees totaling approximately $10 for your music hand-outs for the week. These are paid to your instructors:

For your 13½-hour morning course the materials fee is $5 for 5 days of hand-outs. Each 2-hour Special Subject class will have a $1 charge for hand-outs.

This is a less wasteful way to have appropriate numbers of handouts, and would otherwise be a larger amount added to your tuition. You may pay cash or check made out to the instructor. Please have your payment ready at the start of the class.
